Mango Tree is very much a family concern. Partners Humphrey and Maura started the company in 2007 after Maura was introduced to Antok, the owner of the workshop in Java. Maura's family have ties to Indonesia and travel there often. Originally her father met Antok and commissioned him to build some furniture. Maura's idea was that by using contemporary European design and local Indonesian craftsmanship as well as sustainable Mango Wood, a range of affordable, sustainable and beautiful furniture could be sold in the UK. Back in the UK she brought Humphrey in to build the website and drive the van - and the rest is history...
